Decatur ~ Freddie Ray Maples, 69, a retired coach and teacher, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Decatur.
Memorial is 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at First United Methodist Church.
Rev. Judi Brandt and Rev. Zack Landis will officiate.
Fred was born on March 15, 1947 to Fred and Aquilla (Young) Maples in Decatur, Texas. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1965. Fred got his bachelor’s degree at Austin College in 1969 and his master’s degree in 1991 at Texas Woman’s University. Fred was united in marriage to Trumanell Burgess on March 10, 1974 in Decatur. He was a coach and teacher from 1970 – 2002 at Plainview, Lampasas, Seymour, Big Spring, Whitewright, Northwest ISD, Southlake Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Aquilla Maples.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Trumanell Maples of Decatur, Texas; his son, James Maples and wife Tara of North Richland Hills; his grandchildren, Weston, and Eli Maples; his sister, Barbara Simpson and husband Kenny of Arlington; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church of Decatur, or the Decatur Education Foundation.
