Decatur: Gale M. Corbell, U.S. Navy Retiree, 80, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, March 14, 2010 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Ferren officiating. Interment is 2:30 p.m. Friday at the DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gale was born August 20, 1929 in San Angelo, Texas to Olen Cleo and Lucille McGee Sork Corbell. He married Grace Steele on August 11, 1957 in Lucedale, Mississippi. Gale retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Chico.
Left behind to cherish his memory is wife of 54 years, Grace Steele Corbell of Decatur; daughter, Debra Taylor and husband, Alfred; four grandchildren, Christina, Erinmarie, Michelle, Megan and husband, Joel; great granddaughter, Kylan; four brothers, Don, Norman, Ronnie and Daryl; sister, Thelma Jean; stepmother, Rosielee Corbell; brothers-in-law, Tom and John Steel; numerous nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Gale is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, David Steele.
