Galen Martin Dirks

Aurora ~ Galen Martin Dirks, 82, went to be with our Lord April 11, 2022.

Funeral Service will be 10 AM Saturday, April 16, 2022 with burial following at Aurora Cemetery.  Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, April 15, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.

Rev. Scott Griffin will officiate.  Pallbearers will include Chris Wood, Ryan Zbynski, Johnny Ambrose, JD Clayton, Daniel Webb, Levi Hickey, Aaron Hickey, and Keith Kennedy.

Galen was born January 3, 1940 to Martin Edward and Opal Marie (Wilson) Dirks in Great Bend, Kansas. He graduated Altamont High School.  Galen proudly served in the United States Army. He retired as a driver for Lee Marketing. He married the love of his life, Judith Darlene Myers on February 13, 1981 and remained with her for 38 years until her passing.  Galen was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Dirks; his daughter, Kasey Dumke; 3 granddaughters, April, Crystal, and Lydia; 1 great-grandson, Dillon; and his brother, Sam Morford.

He is survived by his sons, Louis Wood and wife Hesuk, Wayne Wood and wife Robin, Martin Dirks and wife Ruby, Todd Wood, Greg Dirks and wife Kay, Rex Dirks and spouse Jody; his daughters, Lorri Ambrose and husband John, Tonya Kennedy, Kimberly Dirks and husband Scott Joerin; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn Burham; his brother Kenneth Morford; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
