A Celebration of Life service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Reverend Ken May officiating.
Garland was born on January 23, 1940 in Indian Creek, Texas to Raymond Thomas and Anita Iona (McDearmon) Middleton. He was united in marriage to Adera Francene Pentecost on May 12, 1972. Garland was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Adera Middleton to Decatur; five children, Debi Leaks and husband Randy of Abernathy, Derick Middleton of Brownwood, Dawna Middleton of Springtown, Missouri, Drue Middleton of Denton and Dustin Middleton of Decatur; five grandchildren, Chelsea Kaster of Springfield, Missouri, Clayton Pettiet of Lubbock, Chase Hogue of Springfield, Missouri, Taylor Lack-Middleton of Early, and Christopher Middleton of Justin; and one great-grandchild, William Kaster of Springfield, Missouri; mother, Anita Middleton; sister, Margie Richards; and brother, Larry Middleton all of Brownwood.
Garland is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Middleton.
