Gary Don Johnson

Decatur ~ Gary Don Johnson,74, went to be with our Lord Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Ascension & St. Marks in Bridgeport. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur will be open for signing the register book 5-9 p.m. Monday. the family will not be in attendance. Visitation with the family will be after the service.

Gary was born July 21, 1946 to Richard and Dorothy (Miles) Johnson in Ft. Worth, Texas. He graduated Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and English. Gary was united in marriage May 24, 1965 to Nancy King in Ft. Worth, Texas. After being employed as an executive at Shop Rite Foods he partnered with his long-time friend Jay Nixon at The Outfit, an agriculture advertising agency. After the Outfit he helped Nancy run her business, Crown Kingdom Dental Laboratory and developed a mobile home community in Mansfield. He was also a full-time grandpa. Gary was a member of Ascension & St. Marks Anglican Church in Bridgeport, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Butch Johnson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Johnson; his daughter, Christy Peebles and husband Mark; grandchildren, Nicole (Newland) Hunt and husband Ryan, Colton Kempin, Meghan Peebles and Meredith Peebles; great-grandchildren, Henry Hunt and Cooper Threatt; his sister, Linda Arellano and husband Albert; his sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a host of friends.
