Springtown ~ Gary Don Owen, 70, a retired school teacher, went to be with our Lord Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Fort Worth.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Cottondale Baptist Church with burial in Springtown Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Charles Pugh, Pastor, will officiate. Pallbearers are Scott Cox, Billy Thompson, Russell Robinson, Homer Horton, Harold Remmele and Jamie Cook and honorary pallbearer is Bill Johnson.
Gary was born on December 9, 1940 to Norris and Lelda (Partlow) Owen in Paris, Texas. He married Ouilda Cole on March 4, 1960 in McAlister, Oklahoma. Gary was a school teacher for 38 years for Birdville ISD, a deacon at Cottondale Baptist Church and Sunday school superintendent.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Ouilda Owen of Springtown; his sons, David Owen of Springtown and Bruce Owen and wife Lory of Clyde; his daughter, Kristy Roe and husband Chuck of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Hannah, Dane, Macy, Thomas and Carter; other family members and a host of friends.
