BOYD...Gary James Prater, 61, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in Boyd.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home. The speakers will be Jim Stemple and his son, Tony Prater. Pallbearers: John Soky, Randall Kelton, Willie Garrett, Jim Stemple, Tony Prater, and Ed Lang.
Gary was born on December 12, 1948, to Thomas and Ruth (Reiter) Prater in Chicago, Illinois. He married Katherine Foster on May 28, 1969, in Chicago. Gary was a self employed machinist and a rein-actor with the duPage Valley Settlers.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Katherine Prater of Boyd; his son, Tony Prater and wife Kristin of Lake Zurich, Illinois; his daughter, Dawn Soky and husband John of Boyd; his 4 grandchildren: Michelle, John, Kathleen, and Kymberlee; his brother, Richard Prater and wife Sandy of Evansville, Indiana; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Glozier and Corinne Kelton, both of Boyd; his brother-in-law, Bill Foster and wife Janet of Azle; numerous cousins and a host of friends.
