Gay Frances Atwood

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 11, at Central Fellowship Church in Decatur, with Decatur Pastor Monty Tuttle to officiate. A graveside service will follow at the Tuscola Cemetery in Tuscola, Texas near Abilene at 5:00 PM.

Frances was born May 13, 1946 in Abilene, Texas to Everett and Marie Grant. She was a devoted Christian, mother, wife, and "Nanny". She was baptized by Paul Faulkner of Minister Lane Church of Christ in 1968. She and her husband James have been members of Central Fellowship Church in Decatur for nine years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Grant; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Nell Atwood.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Atwood of Paradise; one daughter, Brooke White and husband Tommy of Justin; two sons, Kevin Atwood and wife Heather of Longmont, Colorado, and Mark Atwood and wife Jamie of Justin; her mother, Marie Grant-Hamon; one brother, Gary Grant; nine grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tommy, Colby, Braeden, Emily, Olivia, Will, JaCoby, and Madison; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
