Gayla June Liptack, born on January 4, 1941, in Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Missoula, Montana. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, known for her unwavering love for family and her vibrant spirit.
Gayla graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1958 and spent 30 years working as a Regional Sales Representative for General Motors, retiring in 1992. Throughout her life, she cherished her time spent with her three sisters—Kathy Kleam, Vicky Resso, and Carol Colbert—and enjoyed memorable “Sisters4” trips with them. Gayla was a talented singer who had the honor of performing with Buddy Knox in 1956, marking a special moment in her youth.
She was married to Billy Geron from 1959 until their divorce in 1981 and later married Robert Liptack in 1985, remaining together until his passing in 2012. Gayla is survived by her children, Dona Leigh Geron and Steven Scott Geron, along with her ten grandchildren—Quinton, Jovanni, Bryan, Justin, Gary, Jelisa, Ayden, Lauren, Juliet, and Landon—and seven great-grandchildren.
Gayla was deeply involved in her community, volunteering with Vitas Hospice and Meals on Wheels, as well as supporting the ASPCA and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She had a passion for golf, bowling, watching her favorite TV shows like Blue Bloods and Chicago Fire, and was an avid football fan, especially for her favorite team the Dallas Cowboys. Her love for music was evident in her admiration for artists such as Buddy Knox and Elvis Presley, and she found joy in traveling, with Italy holding a special place in her heart.
A staunch believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Gayla’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and dedication to family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In honor of Gayla and her favorite team, Dallas Cowboy attire is welcome and encouraged for all funeral attendees.
