Gaylord Lee Cato

Decatur ~ Gaylord Lee Cato, 87, went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 17th, 2023.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gaylord was born August 13, 1936 to Andy Rubert and Lena (Eggenberg) Cato in Electra, Texas. He was united in marriage September of 2000 to Christine LaJuan McCracken in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree, retiring from Lockheed Martin after many years as an Engineer. Gaylord was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy Cato and Lena Franklin; and his grandson, Brian Weston Smith.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine LaJuan Cato of Ft. Worth; his daughter, Glory Cato & Pat Broyles of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; his son, Brett Cato and wife Melissa of Niceville, Florida; his step-daughter, Kristin Gilbert; step-son, Bodie Gilbert; his sister, Jan Walker and husband Rick; granddaughters, Kyra Peters and Anna Smith; grandsons, Dakota Cato and Aaron Cato; 3 great-grandchildren, Liara Vie Peters, William Aidan Chadwell Smith, and Scarlet Aurora Cato; extended family members and a host of friends.
