Decatur: Gene "Pete" Leake, 80, died March 10, 2008, in Decatur.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13th at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Rev. Ken May will officiate. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers are Cody Leake, Casey Leake, Carlton Leake, April Kuykendall, Allan Kuykendall, Willie Joe Howard, Joe Leake, and Jim Armes. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Wilson, Billy Joe Snider, Paul Howard, Rickey Truitt, Charlie Perry, Jimmy Joe Steel, Joe Foreman, and Raymond Truitt.
Gene was born November 24, 1927 in Decatur to H. F. and Blanche Walker Leake. He married Mary Jo Truitt on July 16, 1949 in Decatur. Gene retired from Menasco Manufacturing in Ft. Worth and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #447 for over 50 years.
Left behind to cherish his memory are is wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Leake of Decatur; sons, Truitt Leake, Ray Leake and wife, Pam, and Gay Leake and wife Lynne all of Denton; brother, Jack Leake and wife, Reba, of Decatur; grandchildren, April and Allen Kuykendall, Cody, Casey, and Carlton Leake.
The family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Decatur's Building Fund.
