CHICO - Gene Lowrance, 82, a retired pumper and rancher went to be with our Lord on January 7, 2009 in Bridgeport, Texas.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Morris Memorial First United Methodist Church in Chico. Burial: Chico Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home.

Reverend Elaine Bussey and Dr. Robert Beck to officiate.

Pallbearers: John Farris, Johnny Richey, Charles Knight, Kenneth Manning, James Whitaker and Donald Maddux. Honorary Pallbearer: Glenn Spruiell

Gene was born April 5, 1926 to Robert Gale and Goldie Cobb Lowrance in Iowa Park, Texas. He married Wenonah Robertson on April 23, 1947 in Iowa Park. She preceded him in death in 1998. Gene was a member of the Morris Memorial First United Methodist Church, the American Simmental Association, the Texas Deer Association, the Sons of the Confederacy, and several livestock committees. He also served on the board of Texas Farm Bureau and the Chico School Board. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Joe Bruce Lowrance in 1983; his brothers, Robert Bruce Lowrance and Linton Gale Lowrance.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Johnny Dan Lowrance and his wife Jerry of Chico; 5 grandchildren, Clint Lowrance and his wife Becky of Chico, Cody Lowrance and his wife Terra of Chico, Suzanne Lowrance Bailey and her husband Cochise of Bridgeport, Taffy Miller and her husband Pete of Coppell, Leeann Bagwell and her husband Micah of Iowa Park; 8 great grandchildren, Kennedie, Jacquelyn, Kylee, Tatum, Corbin, Cade, Bo and Nash; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: Texas A & M Foundation, 410 George Bush Dr., College Station, TX 77840. ATTN: Joe Bruce Lowrance "70 Memorial Scholarship Fund.
