Gene J. Oyler

Runaway Bay~ Eugene "Gene"  J. Oyler, 73, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 in Decatur.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Rise Church in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers are to include, Josh Oyler, Nathan Oyler, Dylan Surratt, Jake Milligan, Shannon Hesteande, Andy Milligan and Graham Surratt.

Gene was born on June 11, 1949 to Emerson and Helen (Yehl) Oyler in Salamanca, New York. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Diane Kay Smith on January 12, 1974 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and together 49 wonderful years. Gene worked as business administrator with Solaris Healthcare for over 20 years. Gene was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all that knew and loved him so.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Oyler and his two grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane Oyler of Runway Bay, his daughter, Susanna Surratt and husband, Robbie L. Surratt, Jr. of Decatur; his daughter, Jessica Milligan and Andy Milligan; his son, Luke Oyler and wife Virginia of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Anna, Allyson, and Jake Milligan, Josh, Nathan, and Adelynn Oyler, Dylan, Sydney, Collins, and Graham Surratt; numerous extended family and a host of friends.
