Gene W. Reed

Decatur ~ Gene Ward Reed, 89, went to be with our Lord Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 11:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Dr. Van Gardner and Dr. Bill Hughes will officiate. Pallbearers include Dalane Bible, Rick Pope, Dale George, Jerry Barnett, L.W. Mann, and Dan Mayers. Honorary pallbearers are Stanley Kemp.

Gene was born on January 24, 1929 to Clifford and Vera (Walker) Reed in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage to Ilo Faye Pitts on February 12, 1960 in Aurora, Texas. Gene was retired from farming. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Faye of Decatur; his sons, Scotty Reed of Decatur, Monty Reed and wife Penny of Decatur; his grandchildren, Garet, Cody, and Carlee Reed; 3 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, and a host of friends.
