Geneva Bessie (Monroe) White

February 18, 1922 — August 7, 2016

Alvord ~ Geneva Bessie White, 94, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, August 7, 2016 in Decatur.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Alvord with burial at Sunset Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Church.

Rev. Bill Cleveland and Rev. Jimmy Davis will officiate. Pallbearers include Tom White, John White, Stephen White, Travis White, Derek White and Kerry Clower.

Geneva Bessie (Monroe) White was born in Chico, Texas on February 18, 1922 to Jake and Bessie Monroe. She was the 2nd child of 5 children.  Geneva was a homemaker. She loved children and kept many in her home while their moms worked.  She was a  graduate from Forestburg High School.  Geneva married Paul White of Greenwood, Texas on June 1, 1941 a son Jerry was born to them of September 18, 1942.  They spent most of their married life in Plainview, Texas and Fritch, Texas before moving back to Alvord in August 1977.  At the age of 33 Geneva was born again and became a child of God.  She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years Paul White on March 15, 1987; her great grandson, Bo Altier; her parents; her sisters, Elsie Sampler, Bula Mae Berry, and Louise Howard.

She is survived by her son, Jerry White and his wife Judy of Davenport, Oklahoma; her brother, Jesse Jake Monroe Jr and his wife Wanda of Forestburg, Texas; her brother in law, Willie Howard of Alvord, Texas; Sister in law Eva Pearl Smith and her husband Bill of Kentucky; her grandsons, Tom White and wife Val of Arlington Texas, John White and wife Megan of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Stephen White and wife Stephanie of Fort Worth, Texas, Travis White of Davenport, Oklahoma, Derek White and wife Christy of Davenport, Oklahoma; her great grandchildren, Lauren, Sophie, Isabella, Blayre, Brett, Hallie,Aidan, Audrey, Jake, William, Logan, Ava, Bryson, Jax, and Addie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and host of friends.
