George Elton Benedick

Decatur ~ George Elton Benedick, 89, of Decatur went to be with his Lord Friday, September 29, at his home in Decatur.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Victory Family Church in Decatur with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Pallbearers include Ryan Kitchen, Billy Benedick, Jason Benedick, Matt Vega, Zach Carstens, Drew Carstens, and Anthony Stutt. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Patrick, Jim Howard, and Joe Cotten.

George was born December 23, 1933 to Virl and Lela Benedick in Stockton, Kansas. He married Darlene Marie Stalcup on December 27, 1953 in Hoisington, Kansas.  They were married 68 years till her passing in 2022. George also worked for many years as a chemist in the oilfield for Welchem. He was a loving father and Papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, George Benedick, Jr. and Kayla of Great Bend, Kansas, and Bill Benedick and Susie of Aurora; daughters, Rebecca Vega and husband Richard of Sunset, and Bridgett Stutt and husband Chris of Bridgeport; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.
