Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur with Rev. Louis Horton officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Brandon Hunt, Dustin Burns, Ryan Heaton, Jessie Heaton, Dion Heaton, and Larry Howell. Honorary pallbearer is Troy Joe Doyle.
George was born November 27, 1923 in Nocona, Texas to George Brenton and Ethel T. (Evans) Heaton. He was united in marriage to Mary Nell Howerton on January 5, 1946.
George served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from General Dynamics as a supervisor in 1989 after 40 years of service.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Mary Nell Heaton of Alvord; daughter, Linda Morrow of Hutto, Texas; son, Thomas Brenton Heaton of Bowie; five grandchildren, Stacie Burns of Decatur, Brandon Hunt of Hutto, Dion Heaton of Sunset, Jessie Heaton of Lubbock and Ryan Heaton of Bowie; seven great-grandchildren;two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Pope of Alabama.
