PARADISE -- George D. Mayfield, 68, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in Decatur.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Boyd Church Of Christ. Burial: Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends: 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Bro. Eddie Montgomery will officiate,assisted by Bro. Steve Weeks. Pallbearers: Tim Gillott, Gary Davis, Clyde Slimp, Jackie Stone ,Monte Tedrow and Gene Dilleshaw.
George was born on February 8, 1940, the son of Lemond and Mattie Faye (Stokes) Mayfield, in Decatur. He married Winogene Oates on June 4, 1968 in Fort Worth. George was a heat treat specialist at Bell Helicopter for 36 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Boyd.
George was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,Jimmy Gene Mayfield.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: wife of 40 years ,Winogene Mayfield of Paradise; sons, Doug Mayfield of Azle, TimMayfield of San Francisco, Jackie Stone of Aurora, Kevin Stone of Boyd; daughters, Dorrie Mayfield of Azle, Darla Davis and husband Gary of Rhome, Lanai Gillott and husband Tim of Decatur; grandchildren: D.J., Jack, Kevin Jr., Cody, Robert, Crystal, Ashton, Chelsey, Joseph, Alex, Sebastin, Sean, and Daniel; great grandchildren, Mandy and Tatum.
