BRIDGEPORT -- George W. Russell, 76, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Rev. Millard Bucholtz will officiate. Pallbearers: Justin Hastings, Alex Hastings, Kyle Hastings, Michael Hastings.
George was born on June 22, 1932, the son of Hubert and Mary Colean (Thompson) Russell in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He married Ella Mae Perkins on May 18, 1992 in Decatur. George was an oilwell contractor for Bridwell Oil Company. He was in the National Guard.
George was preceded in death by his first wife, Alline Ashbrook Russell on July 3, 1987; his sister, Betty Jean Wright; and his grandson, Adam Jason Watkins.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife, Ella Mae Russell of Bridgeport; daughters, Karen Russell of Bridgeport and Sharon Watkins of Runaway Bay; granddaughter, Amanda Madera and husband Tylor of Paradise; great grandson, Xander Madera; sister, Mary Leach of Wichita Falls; step children: Sheila Hastings, Doris Faris, Charles Warsham, Stephen Warsham, Gary Warsham, and Darlene Warsham; 14 step grandchildren; numerous step great grandchildren.
