Decatur: George Robert Smith, 59, a manager at Alvord Truck Stop, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, June 26, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, July 1st at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Chapel with Steven Bernard officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Bobby Franklin, Jason Michael, Toby Sanford, Andrew Franklin, Robert Gonzalez, and Johnny Wise. Honorary pallbearer is Dale Dishman.
George was born December 24, 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia to Charlie Lawrence and Peggy Lou (Hardin) Smith. He was united in marriage to Gladys Ann Moss on November 16, 1973 in Decatur, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Gladys Smith of Decatur; two daughters, Bonnie Dishman and husband Dale of Jacksboro and Peggy King of Decatur; four granddaughters, Danika, Liberty, Elizabeth and Emily; four sisters, Nora Montgomery of Lindale, Texas, Charlene Archa and husband Jess of Eula, Texas, Betty Taylor and Debbie Sanford and husband Mike both of Decatur; brother, Enoch Teague and wife Runa of Plano, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
