Gerald W. Burns

Bridgeport~ Gerald W. Burns, 75, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Decatur.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14th, 2025, at The Rock Church in Bridgeport with a burial to follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Rev. Tim Jenkins and Rev. Terry Vaughn will officiate.

Gerald was born on March 26th, 1949, to Russell O. and Doris Jean (Wyatt) Burns in Dallas, Texas. He married Deiana Jean Lytle Roberts on May 7th, 1982, in Houston, and over the years created many cherished memories together. He retired after working for Fannie Mae for many years. Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a former council member for The City of Cedar Hill, Texas. He was a member of The Rock Church in Bridgeport.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 42 years, Deiana Jean Burns of Bridgeport; his daughters, Kelly Griffith and her husband Corbett, Samatha Calhoun of Decatur, and Karen Harrigal and Brian of Katy; his son, Bryan Burns of Dallas; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Vickie McFarlin and her husband Gerald; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
