Bridgeport ~ Glenda Joyce (McAnear) Watkins, 77, went to be with our Lord Sunday, February 18, 2024 in Decatur. She was a long-time resident of Bridgeport. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of the East Mound Church of Christ. She and her identical twin, Linda, were both baptized at the age of 13 in Lake Jacksboro.
Funeral is 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jimmy Williams to officiate. Pallbearers are Jonathan Smith, Jeff Smith, Justin Smith, James Moncivais, Noel Gilley, and Roper Gilley.
Glenda was born on July 13, 1946 to Loyd and Maricelle (Beck) McAnear in Jacksboro. She performed many diverse jobs in her lifetime including: co-owner of a family run machining business, a painter, and a truck driver. She also had numerous hobbies including: gardening, hunting, fishing, wood carving, painting, ceramics, and crocheting. Glenda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend to many that will miss her dearly.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Maricelle (Beck) McAnear and brother-in-law, Edward Swan.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jill Smith and husband Jeff of Sunset; her son Jeffrey Watkins of Palm Springs, California; her grandchildren, Jonathan Smith and wife Emily of Decatur, Jennifer Moncivais and husband James of Flower Mound, and Justin Smith and wife Kari of Victoria; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Carolyn Swan of Paradise and Linda Kaker and husband Henry of Seneca, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
