Glenn was born August 28, 1928 to Aubrey and Daisy Sims Poynor in Breckenridge, Texas. They preceded him in death. His father was a lifetime employee of Lone Star Gas Company and moved his family where the work took him. In 1943, they moved to Cisco where Glenn attended and graduated from Cisco High School in 1945. He went on to graduate from Texas Tech with a B.S. in Geology in 1950. While at Texas Tech, he married fellow student Fern Huestis in 1948, who had also graduated from Cisco High School; the couple had 3 sons over the next 5 years.

Except for a brief stint as a dry goods store manager, Glenn worked for the rest of his life in the oil and gas business, rising to a regional manager position with BJ Oilfield Services and then in 1966 forming an oil and gas production partnership with his brother Max in Jacksboro. While living in Jacksboro, Glenn was a member of the Jacksboro ISD Board of Education for 5 years.

After moving to Runaway Bay Resort in 1974, he was intimately involved in developing the city's structure and charter. Glenn and Fern have been members of the Runaway Bay Community Church for the past 35 years; Glenn has been a deacon and treasurer of the church for the past dozen years. Glenn had a lively love of playing golf, especially at Runaway Bay. In his later years, he became a cattle rancher and enjoyed chasing cows with his big blue tractor.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Fern DeLois Huestis Poynor; three sons, Dr. Wesley Poynor and his wife Kay of Richmond, Virginia, Garland Poynor of Chico, Richard Poynor and his wife Cathy of Jacksboro (all three sons graduated from Jacksboro High School); 5 grandchildren, Patrick Poynor and his wife Kirsten of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ariane Reagor and her husband Shannan of Royse City, Douglas Poynor of Corinth, Adrienne Poynor of Corinth and Nicholas Glenn Poynor of Jacksboro. Ariane and Shannan are the parents of the 3 great grandsons, Noah, Nicholas and Darin Reagor. Glenn has 7 nieces and nephews on the Poynor side and 4 nieces on the Huestis side of the family. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Max Poynor and his wife Stacie of Fort Worth and Judge Clay Poynor and his wife Sandra of Bridgeport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas, Texas, (800-421-1121 or www.tsrhc.org) in the name of Fern and Glenn Poynor.

===========================================================

Dear Fern,

I am a lost cousin of Glenn and Max. I am the daughter of J.C. Sims an older brother of Daisy. She was a favorite aunt of mine and my sister, Joyce Ann. We lived in New Mexico and Arizona most of the time. However when we went to visit Ma and Pa Sims we saw the family. I am the same age as Max and Joyce is the same age as Glenn. We had many happy memories of those visits and only wish we had kept up with the families more. Distance and busy live and children demanded all of our energy. My oldest daughter, Leeanna Sue Hagler, was a devout Mormon and did help me with the genealogy of the Sims and Maynards. I am willing to share it with anyone and hope to find out more about the family roots. Please share this with Max and I would like to hear from you all some time. Over the years Patti and Sherman have kept me up to date with the family going ons. So I feel like I have been sorts part of the family.

You have a wonderful interesting family! I know Glenn found deep pleasure in his family and the long marriage to you. It is a great legacy to have. Now his and your deep commitment to your church will comfort you.

With deepest sympathy, Jay Humphreys
