Brownsville ~ Gregoria Alaniz Garza, 80, went to be with our Lord Sunday, July 12, 2020 in Houston, Texas.

Graveside is 1 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 10 AM Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home, Boyd.

Gregoria was born May 25, 1940, to Benjamin and Cayetana Alaniz in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was united in marriage to Abel Gonzales Garza on August 29, 1956 in Matamoros, Mexico. Gregoria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a devout Christian and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Yolanda Valdez and Dorina Garza; and 1 grandson, Benjamin.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Abel Garza of 63 years of Brownsville; 5 sons, Abel Garza, Jr. and wife Gloria of Gonzales, Louisiana, Eleazar Garza of California, Raul Garza of Gonzales, Louisiana, Abel Carmona of Aurora, and Roy Valdez, Jr. and wife Mona of Brownsville; 5 daughters, Alma Eanes and husband Joseph of Azle, Soyla Huerta and husband Uriel of Houston, Lorriane Cruz and husband Juan, Laura Quiroz and husband Eleazar of Brownsville, and Yolanda Matamoros and husband Jessie of Brownsville; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her sister, Guadalupe Alaniz of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
