Guinn Elwood Arrington, 99, died June 26 in Fort Worth, Texas and entered his eternal and heavenly home.
Graveside service is Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 11:00am at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
Kasey Pipes to officiate. Pallbearers are Greg Arrington, Kerry Pipes, David Arrington, Jody Wilson, Jeff Arrington, Jimmy John Dean, and Bobby Jack Jackson.
Guinn was born March 3, 1922 in Boyd, Texas. The son of Burrell and Ola Mae Arrington. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1940 where he lettered in multiple sports and ran on the 1940 Boyd track team that won the state championship.
While in high school, he met Elza Etheleen Dean and they eventually married on August 22, 1942. Later that same year, Guinn enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. For the next three years, he served at several Naval installations as well as on board the USS Albuquerque.
Following the war, Guinn returned home to North Texas where he worked at the Swift Meat Packing Plant while studying to become at plumber in his spare time. In 1951, he founded Arrington Plumbing—a residential and commercial plumbing company in Fort Worth. He owned and operated this company for 35 years until his retirement.
Guinn was most active in church. For years, he and his family attended West Berry Church of Christ where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, and an Elder. He was particularly interested in mission work and often said that most of the money in a church budget should be devoted to missions. He led dozens of mission trips to Mexico and Latin America throughout his lifetime and mentored several young ministers in the region.
Guinn was proudest of his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 79 years, Elsie; his daughter Sue Ann; his son Joe Guinn; daughter-in-law Karen Arrington; grandchildren, Kerry Pipes and wife Beth, Kasey Pipes and wife Lacie, David Arrington and wife Christina and Jeffrey Arrington; and great grandchildren Ella Pipes, Nina Pipes and husband Jaehyeok Jo, Lincoln Pipes, Crosby Pipes and Betsy Pipes.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Winfred Arrington; 2 sisters, Marie White and Georgia Ratliff and his son-in-law, Jerry Pipes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: Burleson Church of Christ Mission Fund.
