Decatur: Harold Joe Norris, Sr., 71, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his home.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rhome Assembly of God Church with David Lynn Bruce officiating. Interment will follow the service at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Michael Phelps, Jeremy Timmons, Brian Duke, Josh Schreiner, Kenneth Barrow and Ronnie Wright. Honorary Pallbearer is Bill Shea.
Harold was born August 28, 1937 in Decatur, Texas to Joseph Briton and Hattie Mae (Roberts) Norris. He married Charlene Hopper on November 2, 1956 in Rhome, Texas. Harold retired in 1999 after 45 years of service as Lead Man in the Maintenance Department of International Paper formerly Dairy Pak in Fort Worth.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Charlene Norris of Decatur; three daughters, Larenda Phelps and husband, Lee of Fort Worth; Rebecca Stephenson and husband, Ken of Fort Worth, Bobbie Laing and husband, Michael of Richardson; son, Harold Joe Norris, Jr. and wife, Becky of Decatur; eleven grandchildren; Michael Phelphs, April Duke, Bill Shea, Melanie Phelps, Angela and Jeremy Timmons, Natalie Stephenson, Kylisa Taylor and Karleigh Norris, Cameron and William Laing; five great grandchildren, Aiden and Sean Duke, Greg Shea, Logan and Lucas Laing.
Harold is preceded in death by seven sisters, Mattie Irene James, Genivea Pauline Ware, Betty Joe Norris, Juanita Fay Idell, Lottie Mae Cornstubble, Elsie Fay Brownlee and Lorene Dunn; and two brothers, Joseph B and Houston Norris.
