Harold Dean Read

Paradise~ Harold Dean Read, 89, a retired Truck driver, went to be with our Lord Friday, November 3, 2017 in Paradise.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral home in Bridgeport.

Brother Jim Taylor will officiate.

Pallbearers for the service will be Ryan Ooten, Rick Read, Gary Barnett, Jason Read, Bud Read and Tom Bridges

Harold was born on August 9, 1928 to John Dixon and Irene (Pike) Read in Paradise. He was united in marriage to Dorotha (Morehead) on March 9, 1952 in Chico, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army he was stationed in Korea and Japan. He was awarded with Korean Service medal with 4 bronze service stars, Bronze star with “V” devise, Japan Army occupation medal and an Combat Infantry badge. Once he was out of the Army he returned to his hometown of Paradise, Tx where he drove a truck for Austin Powder Company and later retired after 32 years of driving for the company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Great grandson Braylon Shetter; his brothers Earnest Read, J.D. Read, Marvin Read and Leon Read; his sisters Lorene Read, Peggy Calvert and Pauline Carlton.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Dorotha Read of Paradise; his sons Duane Read and wife Marilyn of Decatur, Mitchell Read and wife Debbie of Paradise; his daughter Lori Dolak and husband George of Bedford; his grandkids Jason Read and wife Tiffany, Amanda Shetter and husband David, Melisa Read, Scott Read, David Scott Herrera and fiancé Christy and Sam Dolak; 14 great grandkids; his brother Bill Read and wife Bobby of Paradise; his sisters Patsy McClure and husband David of Mesquite and Geneva Hudson of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
