Decatur ~ Harry Fred Melear Jr., 80, a retired lab technician, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 in Decatur after succumbing to leukemia.
No services will be held.
Harry was born on May 9, 1935 to Harry Fred Sr. and Mary (Hughart) Melear in Haslet, Texas. He was united in marriage to Sara Matilda Ufret on November 30, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. Harry worked at Burris/Cargill Mills for 42 years as lab tech and test baker. He served his county in the Texas National Guard. Harry enjoyed many creative talents such as, building model planes, leather work, HAMM Radio and many other interests. He was an honorable, devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who loved life and family. Harry loved pranks and laughing with everyone. He loved helping others and he loved his Lord and Savior. Harry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cubby Melear; his sister, Alice Creamer; his brother-in-law, Calvin Creamer.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, and they celebrated life together for 33 years, Sara Ufret Melaer; his sister, Jeanie Melear Kirk and husband Royce of Springtown; his daughter, Sheree Barber and husband Gary of San Antonio; 2 step sons, Roberto Arcelay and wife America of Lewisville, and Javier Arcelay of Keller, Texas; 3 grandsons, Michael Barber and wife Melanie of Mansfield, David Barber and wife Stephanie of San Antonio, and Chris Barber of San Antonio; 1 step grandson, Jaiden Arcelay of Keller, Texas; 6 great grandchildren, Arianna, Eli, and Colt of San Antonio, and Matthew, Madison and Maddox of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
