Decatur ~ Hazel Howard, 98, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Greenwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Texas with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Charles Taylor and Danny Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers include A.C. Griffin, Frank Maxwell, Neal Fortenberry, Rex Maxwell, Dale Burks, and Benny Rutherford.
Hazel was born on February 6, 1917 to Joe and Mary Anna (Vaughn) Truitt in Greenwood Texas. She was united in marriage to James Arnold Howard on October 7, 1933 in Decatur until his passing. Hazel was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Arnold Howard; her son-in-law, Wayne Lovejoy; several brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Willie Joe Howard of Alvord; her daughters, Adell Clark of Fort Worth, Mattie Graham and husband C.D. of Aledo, and Maurine Lovejoy of Argyle; her sister, Mary Jo Leake of Decatur; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
