FORT WORTH -- Hazel Simmons, 90, formerly of Paradise, a devoted housewife, went to be with our Lord January 9, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Saginaw. Burial: Keeter Cemetery in Keeter, Texas. Visitation: 6-8 p.m Monday.
Dr. Danny Howe will officiate. Pallbearers: Glenn Hawley, Jr., Jason Simmons, Rodney Simmons, Randy Simmons, Jeron Posten, and Donny Stephens.
Hazel was born January 14, 1918 to Robert and Pearl Fairman Hobbs in Granbury, Texas. She married Gordon Simmons on August 11, 1934 in Linden, Texas. He preceded her in death October 21, 1975. Hazel loved her Lord and her family of 99. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, bird watching and reading her Bible. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Saginaw. Hazel was also preceded in death by her daughter, Murlene Ohnheiser and her son, Jerry Simmons.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Rebecca Hawley of Fort Worth; 3 sons, Tommy Simmons and his wife Melba of Weatherford, Ronny Simmons and his wife Melinda of Paradise, Terry Simmons and his wife Donna of Keller; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; her sister, Winnie Doss of Atlanta, Texas; daughter-in-law, Janice Hubenka of Paradise; son-in-law, Clarence Ohnheiser of Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
