Decatur ~ Helen Marie Nigh-Spanglo, 89, went to be with our Lord Monday, November 14, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur Chapel with burial in Sweetwater Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur.
Rev. Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers include Billy W. Adams, Billy Caraway, Dennis Jones, Wayne McGar Donald Meador and Larry Starnes. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Williams and Wiley Meador.
Helen was born on November 2, 1927 to Wiley and Ola (Bigham) Caraway in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage to Howard Nigh on May 15, 1946 in Decatur. Helen was an officer at Senior Citizens and helped with fund raisers at church. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Nigh; her step daughter, Glenna Walls; 6 sisters and 8 brothers.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marie Rosson and husband Troy of Decatur, Sheila McCrary and husband Dewayne of Alvord, Tammy McCrary and husband Steven of Rhome; her grandchildren, Gina Hodges and husband Danny of Alvord, Dionne Bruner and husband Gary of Chico, David Rosson of Dallas, Michelle Weatherly and husband Bobby of Bothell, Washington, Robbi McCrary of Decatur, Nikki Jones and husband Glen of Alvord, Amy Cunnius and husband Ryan of Decatur, Eleisha Austin and husband GT of Marlow, Oklahoma, Cody McCrary and wife Abby of Keller, Sheila Poland and husband Syd of Arlington, Brian Brown of Fort Worth, Angela Cobb of Gordonville, Texas; 22 great grandchildren; 10- great-great grandchildren; her sister Ruby Starnes of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
