Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4th at Central Fellowship Church with Monty Tuttle and Mick Savage officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Mick Savage, Jimmy Cunnius, Bill Wiley, James Craft, Gordon Ploeger, and Terry Rendleman. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Bastain, Garland Ray Lipsey and Carl Greer.
Herbert was born September 2, 1924 in Greenwood, Texas, to Elisha Dee and Laura Lee (Wilson) White. He married Mildred Ruby Heath on April 23, 1943 in Greenwood. Herbert served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946. He was a member of Central Fellowship Church in Decatur.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Mildred White; son, Danny White and wife, Shirley; daughter, Brenda Hughes and husband, Lowell all of Decatur; three grandsons, Rodney White, Aaron Hughes of Decatur, Heath White of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Jana Rosenbaum and husband, David, Kimberly Brazier both of Decatur; six great grandchildren, Zachary White of Gainesville, Jared and Landen Brazier of Decatur; Jakob, Jagger and Lily Rosenbaum of Decatur; brother, Harold White and wife, Bonnie; sister, Margie Wilson and husband, Wayne; numerous nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Herbert is preceded in death by his son, Herbert Wallace White, Jr.; brothers, Alvin D. and Jessie White; sisters, Fay Goodger, Bonnie Wainscott and Alene Crunk.
