BOYD -- Hershell Marion Lisby, 79, a retired assembly man for General Motors in Arlington, went to be with our Lord Thursday, Mar. 11, 2010 in Decatur.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Boyd. Rev. Jimmy Arrington officiating with Rev. Dolon Stevenson assisting. Pallbearers: Andrew White, Mark White, Justin Simpson,Shane Smith,Andy Chapman, Lonnie Hambrick. Burial: Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Hershell was born on March 16, 1930, the son of Russell Andrew and Esther (Teetle) Lisby in Newark,Tex. He was a member of New Beginnings in Decatur. He was founder of "Toys for Tots" program at General Motors in Arlington, and was also active in United Way.
Hershell married Bernice Smith on April 7,1950 in Boyd. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was also preceded by his brother, Mylas Lisby.
Those left behind to cherish his memory: Son, Harold Lisby and wife Dana of Boyd; Daughter, Debbie Richardson and husband Mike of Boyd; 4 Grandchildren: Clayton Wayne Lisby and wife Cassie of Boyd, Shasta M. Lisby of Boyd, Chris Richardson and wife Brandi of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephanie Leidel and husband Johnny of McKinney; 5 Great Grandchildren: Camdyn and Kyle Leidel, Brooklynn and Jayden Lisby, Abby Richardson; Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
