Mesquite ~ Homer Ray Morgan, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior August 15, 2018 in Mesquite.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home chapel with burial in Springtown Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Rev. Fred Raney will officiate. Pallbearers include Rob Waldron, Jason Sullivan, Darrin Andrews, Brandon Fite, Joe Davis, and Travis Stanley.
Mr. Morgan was born June 14, 1932 to William and Annie (Sessom) Morgan in Fort Worth. He was united in marriage on June 14, 2001 to Jacqueline "Jackie" Cooke in Burleson.
Mr. Morgan graduated from Boyd High School, attended Arlington State College, served in the United States Navy, was a Mason, Shriner, Elk, Moose, past Lt. Governor (Georgia) Optimist International and was self employed most of his adult life. Mr. Morgan served on Georgia Govenor Zell Miller's staff several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his son, Roger Dale Morgan.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rae Jean Denny of Plano; his son, Gary Don Morgan of Douglasville, Georgia; his daughter, Jodie McMillan of Weatherford; his stepson, Stuart Carbone of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Travis, Jennifer, Auston, Jill, Jason, Matthew, and Roger Lee; his great grandchildren, Shelby, Meagan, Hannah, Dylan, Delaney, Evan, Dexter, Jensen, Jordan, and Gracie; his brother, James B. Morgan and wife Doris of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
