Decatur: Ida E. Pierce, 88, of Alvord, retired nursing home medication aid, went to be with our Lord, Friday, November 18, 2011 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20th at Union Hill Baptist Church near Alvord with Reverend Curtis Eason officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Jeff Kahlich, Coley Frye, Jerry Hutto, Jordan Sherwood, Randy Moreno, and Randy Pierce. Honorary Pallbearer is Dewayne Sherwood.
Ida was born on November 12, 1923 in Olney, Texas to John and Ethel (Rothell) Thompson. She was united in marriage to Frank Pierce in February, 1945 in Waurika, Oklahoma. Ida was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Left behind to cherish her memory is daughter, Melba Barnett and husband Raymond of Sunset; two sons, Garry Pierce and wife Barbara of Bixby, Oklahoma and Kenneth Pierce and wife Scarlet of Slayton, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Ida is preceded in death by her husband, parents and 1 brother.
