Ila Sue (Burton) Reed

Decatur ~ Ila Sue Reed, 90, of Decatur went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 2, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone Baptist Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Wayne Boydston, Kip Boydston, Bobby Washburn, Randy Washburn, Blake Sandford, and Shawn Burton.

Sue was born August 23, 1923 to Edgar Willard and Violet (Moser) Burton in Slidell, Texas. She graduated business school in Fort Worth which is where she met her late husband, Gaylon E. Reed.  They married on January 22, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas.  He passed away in 2011 after their 65th wedding anniversary. Sue enjoyed playing golf with the ladies at Decatur Country Club. She loved her children, her church, and always laughed easily.

Left behind to cherish her memory are 3 daughters, Merlene Walker and husband Steve Gold of Arlington, Sharon Manfred and husband Bob of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Rayelynn Dady and husband Glenn of Dallas; son, Craig Reed and wife Rose of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, Amanda, Nathan, Rachel, Andrea, Wendy, Chris, Brent, and Tyler; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Billie Borgman of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and a sister.

Memorials can be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur and the American Heart Association.
