Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16th at the Rosston United Methodist Church with burial in Rosston Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Mike Ramon, Gene Stocker, Gary Lucas, Charles Montgomery, Danny Lucas, Larry Buck, Phil Hancock, Mark Hancock, Christopher Wallace and Stephen Wallace.
Iris was born on July 9, 1918 in Leo, Texas to Jess Francis Lucas and Alta Maud Dover. She graduated from Era High School as Valedictorian. Iris transferred to Newsome Daugherty High School in Gainesville, Texas to continue her education as Era only had eleven grades. She married Charles West in Henrietta, Texas, and they shared a wonderful life until his death on September 18, 2009.
Iris was a wonderful cook, seamstress, horsewoman, gardener and an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. She was a Christian woman, who lived for Jesus Christ each day. Iris treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Jeanie Nickerson and husband, Doug of Rosston, Texas and Vicky Feliciano and husband, Ed of Smithfield, Virginia; granddaughter Marci Gilbert and husband, Terry of Gainesville; grandsons, Sgt. Jeffrey Feliciano and wife, Janet of Germany; great-grandchildren, Sara Nickerson and fiance, Chase Greer of Denton, Christopher and Stephen Wallace of Gainesville, Christove Feliciano of Smithfield, Virginia; brother, Paul Lucas and wife, Patricia of San Angelo, Texas; three step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband; parents, brother, Bud Lucas, sister, Yonna Bandy, grandson, Jamey Nickerson, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
