Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th at the Coker-Hawkins Chapel, with Rick Ross to officiate and Bro. Jack Urbic and Bro. Bill Hughes to assist. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bobby Hughes, Ronnie Hughes, Rick Burkett, Dennis Lee, Mike Lay and Wayne Lovejoy. Jerry Lee will serve as honorary pallbearer.
J. W. was born December 28, 1919, in Decatur to John and Nancy Pinkerton. He married Edna Belle Lee on June 15, 1940 in Fort Worth. J. W. served in the United States Army during World War II, was a deacon of the Decatur Rotary Club, served as City Judge for Decatur from 1975 to 1990, and was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Edna Pinkerton; daughters, Jackie Hughes and husband, Bill of Decatur, Janice Urbec and husband, Jack of Branson, Missouri; grandchildren, Bobby Hughes and wife, KaSondra of Decatur, Ronnie Hughes and wife, Frances of Decatur, Christie Lay and husband, Mike of Issaquah, Washington; 4 great grandchildren, Courtney and Chelsea Hughes, Kendall Lay and Cody Hughes; and sister, Jossie Brown of Seymore, Texas.
J. W. is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lillian Lovejoy.
