Jack was born on September 27, 1935 to Pete and Audrey (Gammons) Keener in Fort Worth. He worked in the construction field building houses, cabinets, and trim work. Jack also became an excellent auto body repairman and owned his own business, at one time, in Grapevine. He was a Christian and Baptist and earlier in his life he followed a calling to preach and was a man that loved the Lord and raised his 7 children to do the same. In the early years, he enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening, and raising animals of all types; later in life, he developed a passion for cooking and loved to give his family various jarred foods, jellies, and hot sauces. The thing he enjoyed most of all was having his family around him and he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Toni Waldrep and husband David of Mansfield, Mary Marshall of Arlington, Terrie Thrasher and husband Wesley of Southlake, Dee Dee Keener of Houston, Shannon Keener of Southlake, Shane Keener of Hurst, and Christie Good and husband Chris of Hurst; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
