Decatur ~ Jackie Boyd, 83, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 4, 2021 in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Gerre Joiner will officiate.
Jackie was born June 8, 1938 to J.R. and Ollie Maud (Walker) Boyd in Decatur, Texas. He was a retired rural postal carrier, having worked for the U.S Post Office for many years. Jackie also was a Cattleman, Dairyman, co-owned and operated Boyd & Wood Cattle Co. He was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse, School Board, ASCS, Youth Fair, Gospel Opry, Decatur Country Club. Jackie was an announcer at the Decatur Football games, Decatur Chamber Auctioneer, and a member of the National Guard. Jackie was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Ollie Maud Boyd; 2 brothers, Scott and Harold Boyd.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Rick Boyd and wife Faith of Saranac, New York, Blake Boyd of Decatur, Jed Boyd and wife Laura of Decatur, and Joe Boyd and wife Brianne; his daughters, Connie Lambert and husband Randy of Grapevine, Ronda Boyd of Decatur, and Julie McLeroy and husband Bob of Commerce; 16 grandchildren, many many great and great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
