Jackie June Clayton was born June 1, 1926 in Breckinridge, Stephens County, Texas to Floyd and Mary Clayton. The family moved several times owning and operating dairy farms in Moran, Breckinridge, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Crosbyton and Willow Point. Jackie was a “young war bride” relocating with her husband Norris Stegall when stationed in Bryan, Texas and Taylorsville, Utah, and following the war, farming near family in Willow Point, Wise County, Texas. Separation and divorce resulted in a move to Fort Worth. As a single mother of two she worked as a cashier (eventually the lead or head cashier) at the Courthouse Market in downtown Fort Worth. After about a year, Jackie returned to Willow Point, married and partnered with Ralph Chivers in dairy farming. Together they raised seven boys; her two, his three and two nephews. The boys and their families were the greatest joy in her life. A few years after Ralph’s death, additional joy came with marrying Marshall Johnson and joining his family with hers. Except for the past few years, she was active in the church and community.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her siblings, Eldene Wadsworth, Jo Fancher, Pat Franklin, Floyd Lee Clayton and Jeanette Denton; her sons, Kelly Stegall, Jim Bob Chivers, Bill Chivers and Tom Chivers; marshall Gene Johnson; her step daughter, Rhonda Frary, step son-in-law, Kevin Keichlin; daughter-in-laws, Myrna Chivers and Glenda Chivers; granddaughters, Kathleen Stegall and Jade Chivers; her great grandson, Phillip Ponder; her special nephews, Robert Dalton Laird and Vaughn Paul Laird.

She is survived by her son, James(Jim) Floyd Stegall and wife Pat; step sons, Darrel Johnson and wife Shirley, Paul Johnson and wife Carol, step daughters, Vicki Leis and husband Ron and Judy Keichlin.

Other survivors include daughter-in-laws, Beverly (Stegall) Deaton, Lori Chivers, Jane Chivers, Velva Johnson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

We wish to express a special thanks to Tammy Elliott and associates for hospice care.
