Alvord: Jackie Bob Pointer, 70, retired postal clerk, went to be with our Lord, Friday, January 20, 2012 in Alvord.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 24th at Alvord Church of Christ with Chester Cullum officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Cody Burdine, Miguel Valdez, Michael Hare, Robert Mote, Donald Pointer, Jr., and Mark Gose.
Jackie was born March 18, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas to J. B. Cleland and Ruby (Smith) Pointer. He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Taylor on February 12, 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Betty Taylor Pointer of Alvord; two sons, Jackie Lee Pointer of Denton, Bobby J. Pointer and wife Bobbie Kay of Alvord; 11 grandchildren, Brenda, Kaydee, Jordyn, Jennifer, Jonna, Jackie Wayne, Amber, Crystal, T. J., Aaron and Trinidad; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald Pointer, Sr. and Jimmy Pointer.
