SUNSET -- James L. Brooks, 77, a retired farmer went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in Bridgeport.
Graveside service; 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Cemetery. No set visitation. Rev. David Kurtz will officiate.
James was born on September 6, 1930 in Newcastle, Texas to Andrew Jackson and Johnnie Lee (Yarbrough) Brooks.
He married Verna Pearl Taylor on March 25, 1953 in Weatherford.
James was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Earnest Brooks and his sister, Ophelia Jefferson Kessler.
Left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife of 54 years, Verna Pearl Brooks of Sunset; son, Lon Brooks and wife Donna of Shreveport; daughters, Gloretta Evans of Belen, New Mexico, Michelle Ankerson and husband Mike of Raleigh, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; brothers, Guy Hayes Brooks of Sunset, Horace Greeley Williams of Newcastle; sisters, Francis Marie Donahue of Breckenridge, Billie Jean Jackobson of Eden, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
