Decatur ~ James Harold “Shotgun” Fellers, 78, a retired Decatur Police Chief, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur Chapel. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur.
Rev. Gerre Joiner will officiate.
James was born on December 29, 1938 to Luther and Velma (Covington) Fellers in Decatur. He was united in marriage to Ruth Odell in May 1969 in Decatur. James retired from Decatur Police Department. He served his country in the National Guard. James was a member of the Greenwood Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Shirley Rhoades.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Ruth Fellers of Decatur; his daughters, Carolyn Grady of Runaway Bay, Beverly Deaton and husband Mike of Lake Bridgeport; his son, Tommy Weatherly and wife Melba of Paradise; his grandchildren, Kevin Loraus, David Loraus, Shane Stegall, Steven Stegall, TJ Weatherly and Brady Weatherly; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; his nephews, Tony Dickey and wife Sandra of Decatur, Joey Dickey and wife Kelly of Alvord; his niece, Cathy Jackson and husband Chris of Decatur; other relatives and a host of friends.
