Decatur ~ James Philip “Phil” Hancock, 76, passed away January 4, 2024.
Service is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Rosston First United Methodist Church in Rosston, Texas with burial at Rosston Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers include Dave Hancock, Scott Hancock, Rich Rimpau, Jake Rimpau, Steve Hall, and Ryan Jordan.
Phil was born December 25, 1947 to Kenneth and Ann (Fortenberry) Hancock in Dallas, Texas. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Stelt, on April 4, 1970 while they were both serving in the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton. Phil received his Bachelor’s Degree from North Texas State University. He was a retired computer programmer for many years, for many more years a Rancher in the Livestock Industry. Phil was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hancock: and brother, Mark Hancock.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of over 53 years, Bonnie Hancock of Decatur; his sons, Scott Hancock of Carrollton, and Dave Hancock and wife, Jess of Crossroads; grandchildren, Dani Hancock, Aly & Ryan Jordan; his sister, JoAnn Rimpau and husband Jim; his mother, Ann Hancock; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
