Joplin, Missouri: James "Jimmy" Edward McCord, Jr., 42, formerly of Decatur, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Joplin, Missouri.
Private funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 28th at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur with Chaplin Burl Pedigo officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery.
Jimmy was born May 1, 1969 in Houston, Texas to James Edward and Priscilla Jane (Townes) McCord, Sr. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1988. After graduation from Decatur ISD, Jimmy joined the U.S. Marines and served during the Desert Storm Operation. Upon his return home, Jimmy worked as an electrical contractor, he was a member of the IBEW Local 220 Union and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Priscilla Townes of Heidenheimer, Texas; daughter, Dalton "Honey Bunny" Shackleford McCord of Vernon, New York; two brothers, Eric McCord of Hawaii, Frank Butler of Oak Forest, Illinois; stepmother, Heather Jonas of Alaska; grandfather, Ben E. Townes, Sr.; aunts, Susan Townes, Beeb Montano, and Yvette, Frances, Patricia and Celine McCord; and uncle, Ben Townes.
James is preceded in death by his father and grandmothers, Pauline Mae Townes and Nellie McCord.
