Graveside service is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27th at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas with Adam Groza to officiate. James was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kimbra McElhannon.
James was born February 16, 1930 in Loraine, Texas to James Dewey McElhannon, Sr. and Katie Fitts McElhannon. He married Bonnie Mae Pickard on May 23, 1954 in Nocona, Texas. James was a member of the Baptist church and worked in retail sales.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Bonnie McElhannon of Rhome; sons, Jim McElhannon and wife, Rachel of Alvord, Matt McElhannon and wife Mindy of Rhome, Mark McElhannon and wife Kellie of Flower Mound; 6 grandchildren and brother, Bill McElhannon of Dallas.
