James Pelham

Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10th at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Wilson Prairie Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rev. Gary Sessions officiating. Pallbearers include Doug Jones, Chad Compton, Joe Watson, Jack Watson, Pete Davidson, and Paul Simmons.

James was born on December 17, 1926 to Issac and Meadie (Gurley) Pelham in Megargel, Texas. He was a welder for National Gas Pipeline in Bridgeport for 50 years. James served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Lavona Nadine Priddy on July 8, 1945 in Madill, Oklahoma.

James was preceded in death by his sons, Revley and Farrell Pelham; his sisters, Mary Beard and Oleta McCain; and his brothers, William and Junior Pelham.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Lavona "Bonnie" Pelham of Bridgeport; his daughter, Tammie Compton and husband Marvin of Chico; 5 grandchildren, Doug Jones, Chad Compton, Nadine Rivera and husband Rogelio, Mandy Pelham, and Annie Pelham; 13 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Zachary, Maegan, Gaberial, Asher, Tenley, Nicola, Christian, Jamey, Desteny, Tameka, Sivart, and Trais; his brother, Tom Pelham of California; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
