James A. Rich, 77, a retired Lieutenant for the Ft. Worth Fire Department passed away Monday, August 26th, 2024 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30th, 2024 at First Baptist Church 140 FM 730, Boyd, Texas with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Pastor Brandon Blasingame and Chaplain Cliff Spain will officiate. Pallbearers include nephews, Curt, Chance, and Tanner Sanders, his Godsons, Ty James, and Mickey Winkle, and his proxy son, J.C. Lambert.
James was born December 14th, 1946 to Clara (Harp) and Lester Rich in Vernon, Texas. He lived most of his life in Saginaw and was a 1965 graduate of Boswell High School.
James was a kind spirit, loved and thought the world of his fellow firefighters that he called his “brothers”. He said he was the world’s greatest fisherman, but lots of time no fish were brought home. He loved home life and he loved his family and friends. James had the most loving gentle hands and could fix just about anything and had a magical laugh.
James’ passing has forever changed our lives. He left us too soon and will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Lester Rich.
Left behind to treasure his memory are his wife and forever girlfriend, Debra of 41 years; his daughters, Karie Holmes and husband Randy, Lori Hart and husband Brian, and Jamie Hazelwood and husband Robert; his grandchildren, Maysi and husband Cody, Kristin, Haylee, Baylie and husband Matt, Emma, Katie, Ella, Halas and Walter.
