Decatur: Janie Bell Roberts, 91, a retired social worker, went to be with our Lord, on Monday, June 9, 2008 in Decatur.
Funeral services are 11 A.M. Thursday, June 12th at the First Baptist Church with John Roberts and Roy Lee Dittmar, and the Reverends Ken May and Jack Gatewood officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Larry Roberts, Dick Roberts, Larry Bell, Doyle Shaw, Cody Shaw and Seth Roberts.
Janie was born June 25, 1916 to Edmon Jackson and Pearlie Estella (Williams) Davis in Haskell, Texas. She married John Thomas Roberts on December 1, 1940 and was married 65 years upon his death in 2005. Janie was a retired social worker for the State of Texas and a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carroll Clayton Davis.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, John E. Roberts and wife, Eve of Decatur; daughter, Jan Bell and husband, Larry of Justin; grandchildren, Melody Shaw and husband, Doyle of Wolfe City, Seth Roberts and wife, Amy of Dallas; Heather Roberts Hancock and husband, Greg of Frisco, Sara E. Roberts of Denton, Rebecca J. Roberts, and Michelle J Roberts both of Decatur; great grandchildren, Kasey Sperry and husband, Josh of Wolfe City, Cody Shaw and wife, Kelli of Pecan Gap, and Zander Hancock; great great granddaughter, Jolee Shaw.
